Hail Repair and Roofing in Berthoud

Cooper Construction is a family-owned roofing company based in Timnath. We have served Northern Colorado since 2013. Berthoud sits squarely in the Front Range hail corridor: on the evening of June 24, 2026, the National Weather Service logged golf-ball hail in town. If your roof was in the storm’s path, an inspection can help document any damage. Contact us for a free roof inspection.

Roof Repair and Replacement in Berthoud

If your roof leaks, we trace the source and repair it with matching materials. After hail, we inspect for damage that may be hard to see from the ground. We photograph the work so you can see what was repaired. When repairs are no longer enough, we quote the Class 4 options that meet the town’s rule, pull the permit, and schedule the town inspection. Schedule a free inspection to discuss repairs or replacement.

The June 24 Hail in Berthoud

Between about 7:47 and 7:52 pm on June 24, 2026, the National Weather Service recorded four hail reports in and around Berthoud: 1.50-inch stones a mile west and a mile north-northwest of town, and 1.75-inch stones (golf-ball size) in town and a mile southeast (NOAA Storm Prediction Center reports; our June 24 storm report covers what to check and the claim deadline). Hail that size can bruise asphalt shingles and loosen their protective granules. It can also dent gutters and air-conditioner fins and damage window screens. Roof damage may be hard to see from the ground. It is not a one-off: NOAA’s records show hail of an inch or larger at Berthoud on May 22, 2018 (1.25 inches), August 14, 2018 (1.00), and July 20, 2024 (1.50). We inspect the roof and photograph any damage so you can discuss it with your insurer: Our hail damage guide explains insurance claims and reporting deadlines in Colorado.

Berthoud Requires Class 4 Shingles on Every Reroof

Berthoud amended section R905.2.4 of the 2024 residential code so that asphalt shingles must be Class 4 impact-resistant, tested to UL 2218, on every asphalt reroof: there is no size threshold. That is stricter than Fort Collins, which requires Class 4 only once half the roof or more is replaced, and Denver, which does not require it at all. Berthoud also does not allow 3-tab shingles; dimensional shingles are the minimum. The replacement must meet the rule. Ask your insurer whether a Class 4 roof qualifies for a premium discount.

Roofing and Exterior Repairs With One Contractor

A hailstorm can dent gutters and downspouts, damage window screens, crack siding and chip paint. We handle roofing, gutters, siding, windows and painting under one contract. If you file a claim, we document the damage across the exterior for your insurer.

Permits and Codes in Berthoud

The Town of Berthoud issues its own permits under the 2024 International Residential Code. Any reroof beyond one square (100 square feet) needs one, posted on the house before work starts. The town requires an ice barrier at the eaves, fasteners rated for 140 mph winds, and $100,000 of liability insurance from the roofer: ask for the certificate. One layer of shingles may be covered once; two or more must come off. We pull the permit and schedule the inspection as part of the job. Details are in the town’s 2026 roofing regulations.
